Cebu is home to stunning beaches and vibrant festivals. But did you know it’s also a street food paradise? From savory to sweet and everything in between, the street foods in Cebu will undoubtedly tantalize your taste buds.

Below are some of the best street foods in Cebu and where to find them:

1. Ginabot

Don’t let the name fool you because this street food is anything but botched. It’s deep-fried pork intestines that are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Think of it as a cross between chicharon and lechon kawali. Ginabot is best eaten with a spicy vinegar dip to cut through the richness of the pork. You can find delicious Ginabot in Pasil.

2. Tuslob Buwa

Tuslob-buwa is made by cooking pig brains and liver until they become a thick, gooey sauce. It has a rich flavor and creamy texture. The dish is served with puso (hanging rice), so you can soak up every last drop of the sauce. The best place to try tuslob-buwa is at Azul in the famous food hub of Paseo Arcenas.

3. Balbacua

If you’re a fan of beef, then you’ll love Balbacua. It’s a slow-cooked beef stew made with various beef parts, such as tripe, tendons, and skin. The dish gets its distinct flavor from using black beans and annatto seeds. The result is a rich and hearty stew perfect for a rainy day.  Head over to Taboan Public Market, where they serve amazing balbacua.

4. Ngohiong

Ngohiong is the local’s version of the spring roll. It’s made from a mixture of ground pork, shrimp, and spices, wrapped and deep-fried to perfection. It’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and it’s usually served with a sweet and spicy sauce. You can find ngohiong on most street corners in Cebu.

5. Silog

The word “silog” is a combination of two Filipino words: “sinangag” (garlic rice) and “itlog” (egg). This dish is a popular breakfast food among Filipinos. Another food item is added to the silog to complete the dish, such as tapa (for tapsilog) and longganisa (for longsilog). “Silogan ni Gian,” is famous for their silogs and is well known by Cebuanos.
